The work

A clear reason to cover the story now

The brief

The initial brief was to raise awareness of Scotica Film and Hardangerfolk, its documentary following an international team retracing Operation Gunnerside, the 1943 mission to sabotage Nazi heavy-water production in occupied Norway.

The relationship continued as the company grew, with a second strand of media work around the appointment of creative director Rachel Sarah.

The approach

The 80th anniversary of Operation Gunnerside gave journalists a timely reason to revisit the story. Finnoah PR built the first campaign around that anniversary, targeting national, Scottish and international media and securing a live BBC Scotland interview with founder Gregor D Sinclair.

The second strand focused on Scotica Film itself. Rachel Sarah’s appointment gave the business a fresh corporate story, generating coverage across Scottish national media and specialist film titles.

The result

The Hardangerfolk campaign generated 14 pieces of coverage, 35 brand mentions and one broadcast placement, with an estimated audience of 606.5m.

Rachel Sarah’s appointment added six pieces of coverage and 31 brand mentions, taking the combined result to 20 pieces, 66 brand mentions and a combined estimated audience of 652.4m.

Coverage included Metro, BBC Scotland, La Razón, The Scotsman, Herald Scotland and specialist film titles including British Cinematographer and 4rfv.

Client feedback

“It was really helpful to work with Steven on this campaign, which did a lot to get the word out about our project and secure some very high-profile media appearances.

“The audience figures speak for themselves, and have been very useful in showing funders and clients the PR value of these works.

“Steven was attentive, honest and communicative throughout, and we look forward to working with him again in the future.”
